People will notice what you’re doing and the right people will ask you to guide them or share what you’ve learned along the way. So, wait to see who recognizes you but in the meantime, find you by noticing what interests you in the world and developing it on your own. That can only happen if you are true to who you are. Success isn’t really about impact - it’s about being recognized as you truly are. What you want to be careful about is trying to find something that you think will help you be successful. Whatever it is, as long as it interests you, there’s a good chance it will interest someone else as well. It could be a system of education or potty training. It could be the system of aesthetics in contemporary or ancient art. That system could be navigating a video game, or designing one. We’re here to advise but we need to understand the systems around us in order to make useful advice. Specialization is what allows you to rise above the grunt work. It’s okay if what you’re doing looks like “work,” as long as you are interested in the system and you’re refining your knowledge or skill, you’re going to develop as a specialist.
